This historic home in Tumwater, WA was the Schmidt family home, now used for events. Our plein air group headed there in July with models in period dress in tow. I arrived early and was struct by the statue and the lovely structure of the home. I love painting the intricate structures of older homes, so I concentrated on it and the beautiful patina and graceful posture of the statue. Each of the dark windows were a different tint from a warm dark green to a red violet and blue violets. I live 15 minutes from this location so I was able to return several times to complete this intricate painting. I used a gold acrylic underpainting which you can see a little bit peeking through the hedges under the "Lady of the Manor".
