A member of our plein air group invited us to paint at her beautiful garden. There was a home in the background and a small structure against the fence that I eliminated, as they were distractions from the arbor and its plantings. Sequim, Washington sits on the Juan de Fuca. You can see the "marine layer" of fog off in the background as it lingered for hours. When I started the drawing it was cloudy with cool lights and warm shadows. My husband called me as he was hiking to tell me sunshine was headed my way. I waited to start painting as the sunshine would change the temperature of the scene.
