Residing in Eastern Iowa along the Mississippi River, I'm surrounded by rolling hills, limestone cliffs, and beautiful landscapes. This scene is illuminated by a sunrise. There's a morning twilight time that lasts a half-hour before the sun actually rises above the horizon. If the sun is filtered by clouds or summer humidity in the atmosphere, you can see the ball of the sun without blinding yourself. You don't have much time to capture such a scene, but you never forget this unique light as it falls on what reminds me of a grandmother's quilt casually tossed on a bed.
